Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art and the national sport of South Korea. In Korean, Tae mean "to strike or break with foot", kwon means to "strike or break with fist" and Do means "art" or "method." Tae Kwon Do loosely translated means "the art of kicking and punching."

In 1989 Tae Kwon Do was claimed to be the world's most popular martial art in terms of practicioners. Tae Kwon Do is known for its kicking techniques. The philosophy is that the legs are the most powerful parts of the body and thus the strongest weapons. Tae Kwon Do develops strenght, speed, power, balance, flexibility and stamina. Tae Kwon Do students typically wear uniforms and belts. Students earn different color belts as they advance in the art.

In Tae Kwon Do class, students will learn:

1. The basic techniques and curriculum of Tae Kwon Do
2. Both anaerobic and aerobic workouts and stretching
3. Self defense techniques
4. Throwing and falling techniques
5. Sparring
6. Forms
7. Breaking techniques
8. Exams to move to the next rank
